He joined San Diego State in August 2006
after serving seven years at Wayne State
University in Detroit, initially as the
Director of Interdisciplinary Studies

Program and Associate Dean of the College of Lifelong Learning, and latterly as Chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Dr. Henry was formerly Professor of Sociology and Criminology for 11 years (1987-1998), at Eastern Michigan University and from 1998-99 was Chair of the Department of Sociology at Valparaiso University.

Dr. Henry is an active and energetic researcher, author and editor.  His research has been funded by the British Economic and Social Science Research Council, the U.S. Federal Management Agency and the National Science Foundation. He has authored or edited 23 books and over 100 professional journal articles on the topics of criminological theory, deviant behavior, law and society and occupational crime. He serves on the editorial board of Critical Criminology and Theoretical Criminology, and is a member of the Board of the Association for Integrative Studies.
